Buddhist Architecture in the Western Himalaya
 
 
 

Within a research project supported by the Austrian Science Fund FWF a team of researchers at the Technical University of Graz under the leadership of Holger Neuwirth work on the documentation, analysis and reconstruction of buddhist temples in the Western Himalaya.
The focus lies on the monuments of the 10th to 14th century of the former kingdom of Guge and Purang, which spread from Tholing in the Southwest of present China (Tibet) to the district of Zanskar in the Indian state Jammu & Kashmir.
