Buddhist Architecture in the Western Himalaya

Based on numerous documentations the form, size, construction, configuration and orientation of the temples is analysed and an architectonical typology is generated.
In addition to the formulation of a typology of the single buildings also the topographic surrounding and the basic edificial functions is considered. Main types are classified between e.g. monasteries in lowlands or in exposed locations, village temples or temples integrated in fortifications.
